Sash Window Draught Proofing and Overhaul

Do you replace the sash cords when draught proofing my sash windows? Yes. All sash cords are replaced to make sure we honour our five year guarantee.

How Long will the draught proofing system last? We have been installing draught proofing systems for over ten years. In that time only a few have had draught seals break down. This has been due to poor decoration.

Will draught proofing reduce my heating costs? We have had feedback that would indicate it reduces the overall amount of time you have radiators on for from many customers.

Can a draught proofing system reduce the noise in my house? Sash windows with large gaps not only let in draught but noise as well. By sealing these gaps with draught seals you do reduce a proportion of the noise. It certainly is noticeable but not life changing.

Is your furniture supplied free in the overhaul and draught proof process? Yes we fit new brass, chrome, or satin furniture as part of our system

Can you change the glass in my sashes whilst draught proofing them? If you have broken panes of glass or require privacy glass this is an excellent time to make these changes and we will be happy to help you.

Can I have Safety glass installed into my sashes? Yes we always recommend 4mm toughened glass to keep weights and putty thickness visible externally the same. 6.4mm laminate safety glass will also be used at short notice and on request.

Why are my nets and curtains dirty? The draughts are carrying dirt through. By sealing these gaps the draught seals will catch the dirt.

Can I clean my draught seals? Yes warm soapy water works well.

Will you carry out small repairs inclusive of the overhaul system? We will repair areas where the catch has been removed or the sashes are loose from mortice and tenons glue failing.

Which draught proofing system do you use? We use have have always used the brush pile system. Other companies may use rubber seals. We have found through extensive testing that brush pile is the best available on the market.

Will draught proofing solve my condensation problem? No. Condensation can only be solved by double glazing and environmental changes. You can of course purchase a dehumidifier.

How long is your draught proofing system guaranteed for? All draught proofing and repair services carry a five year guarantee.

I have lovely antique furniture on my windows. Can they be removed for restoration and then fitted back? We are happy to diligently remove old furniture for use again.

Do you seal my frames to stop water coming in? Yes if your pointing has failed we will make hood to stop water penetration.

My sashes don’t fit the frame well. Do you solve this? Yes when your sashes are taken out they are machined to improve positioning once fitted back in position.

My sashes are loose and need tightening up. Can you do this? Yes we will wedge and glue the sashes as required.

Will you replace putty that’s perished and fallen off my sashes? Yes we will replace and make good any putty which has failed.

Will you stop the rattling of my sashes? Draught seals act to soften the blow between timber and timber. You will experience no more rattling once implemented.

How long after my windows are draught proofed do I have to decorate my windows? All materials we install or timber we expose is primed, under coated and ready for decoration. This means you will have at least six months to decorate.

Can you decorate my windows whilst installing a draught proofing system? Yes on special request we can organise a decoration quote to be integrated into the process.
